Hearty Indian split pea soup)
Combine & simmer 30 mins (covered):
3 C chicken stock
1 C yellow split peas – dried is fine
1 clove garlic – minced
After 30 mins, add:
¼ tsp cumin
¼ tsp coriander
¼ tsp turmeric
Tiny pinch of cayenne pepper
2 tsp black mustard seeds – toasted 60 secs in a frying pan
1 Tblsp lemon juice (1/2 lemon)
Heat 5 mins then serve.
Add water if too thick.
Make extra and freeze it.
